I didn't go with "the device" for the first two panels just to build suspense. I also knew I'd spend approximately ten thousand years sketching and resketching the outfit, and experimenting with the shading.
This proved wise.
I was inspired to play with asymmetry by calico cats, so when I do draw this villainess form in color, expect orange.
