- Magic pressure emanating from Jay

I haven't written it being mentioned directly in the comic itself, but the pressure from the magic is why there was time for this to happen before anyone other than Pandora reached Jay to try and help her.

It would be a bit like the feeling one might get being confronted by an extra-large, standing grizzly bear, except without being able to see the grizzly bear.

It's going to give almost anyone pause, is what I'm saying.

Jay the Witness

I was originally planning to have Jay see the what happened to her attacker, and I had no issue with that being part of the story right up until I realized it didn't really make sense.

Jay being able to see it would be awkward given that the guy was canonically hiding in bushes that would block her view unless he ran in front of her, which is actually a moot point, because she's ALSO using a spell that keeps her from seeing what's actually around her.

So instead, we get what may or may not have been a worse thing for Jay to experience.

Another thing that's unlikely to get mentioned anytime soon is that Jay's attacker, in spite of everything, was able to partly resist the counterattack. This had to have been the case because he managed to run away at all. Were he completely under the spell, "running" would have resulted in running in an imagined reality, and not in the real world.

It clearly wasn't enough for him to be fully aware of his surroundings, however.
