OH HEY IT'S THIS COMIC
Why. Why would he say this? Why would anyone ever make that point of clarification? WHY?! I'm genuinely asking, here! To this day I don't know the logic of this!
It's just... I don't... Why, past me? Why? Why was it necessary to establish this? Why did Tedd's dad feel the need to mention it? Can he just not help but give exposition?!
Wait. That's it. That's the answer. He can't help himself! He spends all day having to tell secrets and lies to people, so when he's in a situation in which he doesn't have to, he can't help but be an endless... SOMETHING of exposition! IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
