- Original EGSNP

This is an experiment with coloring I wanted to share, though I had to figure out how to make it work in the Sketchbook section, hence it being all vertical and such.

It boils down to experimenting with a custom color library I'm putting together for myself, and how I go about shadows. The recent sketchbook comic made it rather clear to me that I really, REALLY need to simplify how I go about them if I want to do comics in color without them taking centuries, which is something I would like to be able to manage at some point.

What I wound up doing here was making the shadows simple black shadows at 30% opacity, but then I duplicated them onto a layer above those shadows, and modified the duplicate so shadowed areas also had slightly increased saturation. It's not a solution that would work with every style, but for something like EGS, it seems to work well, and it's not terribly slow to do.

I'm not rushing to have more regular comics in color, but I'd like it to be an option, so I'm going to continue to work at it and might have more experiments like this. The real big challenge is getting fast at choosing colors and not spending decades deciding what color a wall should be and such.
