Simon from Firefly doesn't have a pony tail, but it seemed appropriate for Ellen trying to look Simon-esque. I'm not sure if her expression is exactly "Simon-esque", but it is the sort of face Ellen would make if trying to do an impression of him, so that's what we get, darn it.
