I swear I shuffled the deck thoroughly and didn't stake anything. This was one of forty possible cards, and Rhoda of all four characters was the one to draw it right away.
I referenced Mario Odyssey for the dust clouds in panel one. It's easiest to just imagine a bunch of overlapping spheres stuck together. Or, you know, popcorn. The run was intended to be bit like what many people call "the Naruto run", but Mario does that too, sometimes, and I'm much more of a Mario fan, so...
100% inspiration credit to Mario. Sorry, Naruto.
I decided I needed to finish this comic during the day last night, and also decided I'd specifically target late afternoon for it being posted. That might have turned into early evening due to me underestimating how difficult sorting out the inking would be with all this variation of scale, but the reason I decided this was a) to give my drawing arm a bit of a break, and b) for whatever mysterious reason, I was more comfortable first sharing this particular comic closer to the evening for most* of EGS's readers.
* Plenty of readers aren't on this side of the pond, mind, but still.
