Even simplified, the first panel wasn't easy for me. I'm not 100% satisifed with it, but I also know adding more detail would a) take forever for one background that will never ever be reused and b) make the panel busier and Rhoda / Catalina stand out less.
Perfectionism aside, I wanted to establish they had made it to the department store without resorting to "here we are in the departments store" dialogue, and I feel I've done that with the clothing racks if nothing else.
...Maybe I should have just drawn the clothing racks.
