The entire basis for an EGS:NP storyline was going to be Elliot and Susan talking about realism and movies, and this would have kicked it off, but... Well, there just wasn't a lot to really work with. It would just be this, but more of it, and some other movie comparisons. I think the only reason I was originally hyped for it was because I was tired, and it sounded like it would be easy to make.
Anyway, as much as I agree that one shouldn't take movies or realism within them too seriously, there's really only so much a person can do. One can't just decide to flip a switch in their brain and suddenly like something just because one of their frustrated friends emphatically declared "it's just a movie".
For me personally, I find the entire premise of Lucy to be irritating, particularly since, based on the trailers, it's a movie with a serious tone. Make it a tongue-in-cheek comedy in which we're all supposed to laugh at the horrible science, and taken maybe it'd be something I'd be interested in.
