Commentary

It was super important to me to make clear that Hanma was scratching her nose, and not doing something else.

Originally, Catalina wasn't going to be able to do that for Susan, and if Susan wanted something like this, she was going to have to deal with the physical transformation that went with it. The form, or forms, that could accomplish this seemed out of character for her to go along with, however, especially outside of the context of testing a game she had a bit of responsibility for in a private setting.

I considered a "not letting what others might think decide for her" angle, which I really liked, but the problem was she herself wouldn't like choosing the form(s), and it would be disingenuous to claim otherwise.

And then I thought of a logical explanation for why the wand would be able to do this for Susan, and I love said explanation. I'd elaborate, but that'll have to wait for the next comic. You have my assurances, however, that it is nerdy, contextually appropriate, and gives us a LOT more options.
