I almost used a style similar to in the middle row earlier after Elliot called Tedd cute, and there were people in the foreground observing it, but I wasn't sure how well it worked with making Elliot and Tedd distinct, and whether it actually worked in that moment.

Ultimately, I'm glad I drew everyone normally in that panel. That was a good panel to have everyone looking normal.

For this page, however, I wanted to convey that there were a bunch of people overhearing this, but I didn't want to actually be specific about any of them. There was just a small crowd. So I brought back the style I had in mind, but even simpler (I originally imagined SOME distinctive features, like hairstyles).

Now, regardless of how much I tried to avoid it, I know what some of you might be thinking about those simplistic designs, but let's be very clear about this:

Those are backpacks. They're not snails.

I'm glad we cleared that up.
