I like simply not having more information as a way to be cryptic. Plenty of characters in stories have been cryptic with good reason, but sometimes it just feels like they really could have been clearer, and it would've been better for everyone (except, perhaps, for villains up to no good).

But no, this being just doesn't have enough information to not be cryptic.
